Final Course Reflection

First of all, I've very glad that I "digested" the knowledge in this course and I've learned a lot of ideas and concepts that I didn't recognize before.

During this course, I've learned that "What is creativity". I know there are diverse answers online, books and articles. But I found my definition of "What is creativity" by self-exploration, which is EVERYTHING. Everything that happened nearby me is creativity, I was actually inspired by a quote, "Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun." -- Mary Lou Cook. Then, I divide these sentences into "Trying, making mistakes and reflecting" Which suddenly my brain gave me the answer that "Creativity is everything". Consequently, I considered that everything that I created is "Toby style". "Toby style" let me learn that this style is unique because this is my own style and nobody could overthrow it. So that Toby style is the foundation of my Creativity.

Also, I've realized that my work habits had gradually changed after the first few lessons. In the beginning, I couldn't efficiently finish my assignments because I don't know how to brainstorm and don't even know what does creativity mean in this class. However, a few classes later, I knew that I should find a method to solve the efficiency problem. So I decided to listen to music. Listening to songs became necessary for me to finish the assignments in the seminar because it was just like the songs had planted a bomb in my mind, and it would explode since I'm brainstorming. Which myriad of ideas would pop out. And my main processes of completing large projects are brainstorming, outlining, carrying on, and reflecting. Of course, I would begin these processes a week earlier than the assignment deadline. In addition, I think is the last process "reflecting" is the most important process because it promoted me to grow, to get better in finishing my assignment. To be specific, in the final product (my video), I've totally spent about 10 hours. 2 hours gathering materials for the video, 5 hours for recording and editing, and 1 hour reflecting. How about the rest of the 2 hours? because of the reflection, I spent 2 more extra hours finding more quotes and editing the video again.

Furthermore, I learned that group work and collaboration are extremely important. From my perspective, as I'm an international student, group work is a perfect opportunity for me to communicate with others. We could share our own thoughts and it distributed the workload for each of us. It is good for me and the whole group to reflect and improve the problems as well. For instance, I think Izzy, Niamh, Lachlan, and I did a great job in the Theater Unit Project because we found out few "awkward" movements. So we communicated immediately and improved the problems. Which I think we are the best!

Additionally, there're also difficulties such as all of the assignments are required to brainstorm, which I think is really a time-consuming process. But I've solved this problem by listening to music. Also, the large project is challenging for me because sometimes the 4 main processes I mentioned on the top would "kill my brain cells". However, I do enjoy challenging myself because I think it is a useful method to make me progress, so I like challenging. As well, I think the vibe and the environment of the seminar classes are interesting because it provides a comfortable place for me to brainstorm, teamwork and share.

Moreover, from the beginning of the semester until now. I obtained my definition of creativity, better work habits, higher working efficiency, better communication, collaboration, and brainstorming skills. To be specific, I felt arduous to finish my assignment and the first projects (the creations) So I attempted to improve by listening to songs and preparing assignments in advance. As a comparison to the final project, I won't say it is effortless but handy. which the difficulty of the final project is time-consuming.

As a result, as a student, I absorbed as much knowledge as I could in the seminar class and also found out the definition of "what is creativity" and "who am I as a creative person". Furthermore, during the process, I paid full effort, concentrated on every single class and assignment, and found the significance of creativity--- EVERYTHING. My definition of creativity and effort could apply to every class and every event in my future. So I appreciate that I could join this supercalifragilisticexpialidocious seminar. Thank you so much!
