Reflection
During the process of walking around the CA campus to my final creation, I think there are lots of things that I would like to illustrate. First of all, according to the "trip" around the CA campus, I felt inspired in the beginning. because I saw lots of diverse objects such as unique textures on the wall, the view of the lake, and 5 wooden horses on the tree. Which I think did inspire me to create my mood board and my product. However, while I'm brainstorming, I did get stuck because I was "inspired too much". This leads to I couldn't classify all of my ideas because my brain feel stressed out. As well as, some of my wonderful inspiration had outflow which makes me feel frustrated.
Moreover, since I was reviewing the pictures that I took on the trip, it was a mess for me because I got no idea how to organize and match the pictures together. So I decided to find a partner artist to figure out this problem. I found an artist called "Grace Fussell", and I like her mood board style because she could connect the different kinds of pictures smoothly. Which she did provide a kind of style that I like and let me develop it by my own idea in the mood board.
Furthermore, the mood board was also the reason that leads me to decide to make a magnifier. So the whole process would look like these: "Why did I take pictures on the trip?" "because I saw new things", "Why I would I took pictures when I saw new things?" "because I'm curious", "why am I curious?" "Because you are". And at this moment, I was thinking that how can I stop being curious? Stop think? No! I want to "Solve" my curiosity! How? Use tools to answer all my questions. Yes! magnifier! So that I decided to make my product as a magnifier.
Finally, even though I think I did a nice job on my product but there's still having something that I could improve. To be specific, my magnifier size is actually a bit small (about 10 cm long) which my dream size would be 30 cm long. Cut the hexagon shape more perfectly as well. Also, if I'm going to make the second iteration I think I would buy a real magnifier glass instead of using the tape.
